The BATTERY 2030+ initiative develops materials and associated processes for functional battery. Although manufacturability is not a project of its own right, all projects within BATTERY 2030+ must consider scalable, industry-compatible and sustainable production technologies.

Battery manufacturing is a topic covering a large area. Depending on the actual context, it may refer to individual cells, cell modules, or battery packs. The battery cell is the smallest and most fundamental functional element in the battery value chain that gathers the essential materials, components, and features of a given “battery technology”. Any superstructure made thereof like modules and battery systems basically comprises the engineering solutions to make such cells work in a practical environment.
